Rockies sign three to minor league contracts

DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies agreed to minor league contracts Wednesday with pitcher Keiichi Yabu, left-hander Tom Martin and first baseman Carlos Rivera.

All three will be invited to spring training.
The 37-year-old Yabu made his major league debut with Oakland last year after pitching for 11 seasons in the Japanese Central League. He went 4-0 with one save and a 4.50 ERA in 40 relief appearances for the Athletics.
Martin split last season between Atlanta and the minors in Houston's organization. He is 9-9 with a 4.88 ERA in 282 major league relief appearances.
Rivera played in 85 big league games with Pittsburgh from 2003-04. He hit his first career home run at Coors Field in 2003.
