Diamondbacks trade Cintron to White Sox for Bajenaru

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Infielder Alex Cintron was acquired by the Chicago White Sox from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday for pitcher Jeff Bajenaru.

A switch hitter, Cintron batted .273 with 19 doubles, eight home runs and 48 RBI in 122 games for the Diamondbacks last season, when he played second, third and shortstop. His three pinch-hit
home runs tied for the NL lead.

A .279 hitter in five seasons, the 27-year-old Cintron is
playing for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic.

Bajenaru, who turns 28 on March 21, spent most of last season at Triple-A Charlotte, going 4-6 with a 1.41 ERA and 19 saves in 61 relief appearances. The right-hander also allowed three earned runs in 4 1/3 innings in four games with the White Sox.
