Cubs send starter Williams back to minors
ST. LOUIS -- The Chicago Cubs demoted pitcher Jerome Williams to Triple-A Iowa on Sunday, two days after he lasted only 1 1/3 innings in a start against St. Louis.
Williams, 0-2 with a 7.30 ERA, allowed eight of the 12 hitters in a 9-3 loss to the Cardinals on Friday night to reach safely. He has made two starts after beginning the season with three relief appearances.
The Cubs recalled right-hander Angel Guzman from Iowa. Guzman was 1-2 with a 6.61 ERA in three starts.
