Jordan, who went on the 15-day disabled list last weekend, aggravated the injury while in the outfield before the Braves 3-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Saturday night.
"He was throwing some balls out there and he popped it," Atlanta manager Bobby Cox said. "I guess the stress from getting hit made it weak."
Jordan was struck near the collarbone on a ball hit by Alex Cora in a 4-1 loss to Boston last Friday. Jordan is hitting .214 with three home runs and 10 RBI in 40 games this season.
After the game, the Braves designated reliever Mike Remlinger for assignment. The move was made to open a roster spot for left-hander Chuck James, who was recalled from Triple-A Richmond and will start Sunday's game.
"You never really want to fully believe that it's you, but I'm at the point where if someone else is interested and it fits for my desires and my family's needs, then I'll consider it," Remlinger said. "But if this is the end of the road, then I think I'm in a lot better place handling that this year than I was last year."
Remlinger, 40, made his major league-debut in 1991. He was 2-4 with a 4.03 ERA in 36 games this year.
In other moves, pitcher Phil Stockman was placed on the 15-day disabled list and right-hander Kevin Barry called up from Richmond.
Stockman strained his left hamstring after making a pitch in the ninth Friday night. The right-hander has no record and a 2.25 ERA in four relief appearances.
Barry went 3-4 with a 3.26 ERA in 15 games at Richmond.
To make room for Barry on the 40-man roster, Atlanta recalled pitcher Blaine Boyer from Richmond and placed him on the 60-day disabled list. Boyer had shoulder surgery in April.
