Garcia gets spring training invite from Phillies

PHILADELPHIA -- Outfielder Karim Garcia agreed to a minor
league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies and was invited
Friday to spring training.

The 31-year-old played with Orix of Japan's Pacific League the
last two seasons. He last played in the majors in 2004, splitting
the season between the New York Mets and Baltimore Orioles. He hit
.229 with 10 home runs and 33 RBIs in 85 games.

Garcia is a career .241 hitter with seven teams. He was 4-for-14
in the 2003 World Series with the New York Yankees.
