ATLANTA -- Atlanta Braves outfielder Mark Kotsay says today was "kind of a big day" in his attempt to return from a lower back strain.
Kotsay, who hasn't played since May 26th, tested the injury by running, throwing and hitting before the Braves' game against Seattle.
Kotsay took 30 swings in the indoor batting cage and jogged and played catch in the outfield. He also shagged balls during batting practice.
It was the most work for Kotsay in almost a month, and he says the key will be how he feels tomorrow.
Kotsay says he hopes to be ready for a minor league assignment in a week.
