Detroit also put Brandon Inge on the 15-day disabled list because of a pulled side muscle. The Tigers purchased the contract of catcher Dane Sardinha from Triple-A Toledo.
Bautista's contract had been designated for assignment on June 20. He was 0-1 with a 3.32 ERA in 16 games for Detroit.
Pearson played with Class A Lynchburg and Double-A Altoona this season, appearing in 16 games. The righty had four saves in 11 games with Lynchburg.
Inge was hitting .215 in 52 games with six home runs and 23 RBIs. The move with the catcher-designated hitter was made retroactive to Monday.
Sardinha hit .206 at Toledo with six home runs and 16 RBIs.
