Mendoza suspended 50 games after positive amphetamine test

NEW YORK -- Los Angeles Angels minor leaguer Thomas Mendoza was suspended 50 games for testing positive for an amphetamine.
The commissioner's office said Wednesday that the suspension of Mendoza, who plays for Class A Rancho Cucamonga in the California League, is effective immediately.
