2008 tiebreaker scenarios

Based on a series of coin tosses conducted by Major League Baseball, the matchup listed below is the one-game tiebreakers to determine the remaining playoff teams. Check out an explanation of each possible scenario and Hunt for October for more information.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

CENTRAL:
Minnesota at Chicago White Sox

From a rainout on Sept. 13, the White Sox still have a makeup game with the Tigers at U.S. Cellular Field because they completed play on Sunday a half-game behind the Twins in the AL Central. If the White Sox beat the Tigers, they will finish in a tie with Minnesota. The White Sox and the Twins would then play on Tuesday at U.S. Cellular Field to determine the AL Central champion.
