Sources: Everett, Tigers agree to deal

The Detroit Tigers and shortstop Adam Everett agreed to a one-year contract Monday, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.

Everett will get $1 million plus incentives.

The Tigers, who earlier in the day acquired backup catcher Gerald Laird in a trade with the Rangers for two pitching prospects, had recently worked out Everett in an effort to gauge the condition of his right throwing shoulder, which landed him on the disabled list last season.

Everett, a six-year veteran with the Houston and Minnesota, batted .213 in 127 at-bats in 2008 with the Twins.
