The Los Angeles Dodgers have intensified conversations with the agents for free-agent starters Randy Wolf, Jon Garland and Braden Looper, with the hope of signing one of them in the next few days, according to sources who have spoken with members of their front office.

Although there have been reports that Wolf is their preferred choice in that group, other sources refute that, saying the team has equal interest in all three starters -- and plans to sign the pitcher who represents the best value in both dollars and years.

Last weekend, it appeared that conversations had heated up between Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti and Wolf's agent, Arn Tellem. But indications Friday were that the two sides hadn't spoken in several days.

The Dodgers seemingly have put their pursuit of Manny Ramirez -- or a bat to replace him -- on the back burner until they finish addressing their pitching issues. They also have interest in relievers Dennys Reyes, Russ Springer and Luis Ayala.
