DETROIT -- The Tigers announced Sunday that outfielder Magglio Ordonez will go on the bereavement list Monday to deal with "personal business."
The team had said earlier in the weekend that Ordonez would miss Tuesday and Wednesday's games against Texas. Neither the team nor Ordonez has elaborated on the cause of his absence.
Tigers manager Jim Leyland said the Tigers will bring up a player Tuesday to fill the roster spot. Ordonez is expected back Thursday, but it is unknown if he will return in time for the afternoon game against the Rangers.
Detroit is off Monday.
