Indians reliever Kerry Wood threw two pitches behind Tampa Bay's B.J. Upton on Sunday, but it was Rays manager Joe Maddon that reportedly was fined after both dugouts emptied.

The St. Petersburg Times reported Thursday that Maddon was fined $500 by Major League Baseball for inciting the situation with his comments to Indians catcher Victor Martinez after Wood's pitches.

Martinez, who got out of the way of a high-and-inside pitch earlier in the series, got into a yelling match with Maddon on the Rays' bench before both dugouts emptied.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
