Phils put Condrey on 15-day DL
PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies placed reliever Clay Condrey on the disabled list Saturday, further depleting a bullpen racked by injuries.
Condrey is the third reliever to land on the DL this week, joining J.C. Romero (forearm) and Chad Durbin (back). Condrey has a strained muscle on his left side, the same injury that sidelined him for a month.
Condrey is 6-2 with a 3.62 ERA in 36 games this season.
Philadelphia also sent Andrew Carpenter back to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday and called up right-handers Kyle Kendrick and Steven Register.
Kendrick won 21 games as a starter the past two seasons, but failed to earn a spot in the rotation this spring. He allowed three runs in two innings and took the loss in his only appearance with Philadelphia this year.
Register was 1-4 with a 3.51 ERA in 36 games at Lehigh Valley and Colorado Springs, the Rockies' Triple-A affiliate.
