Rincon goes on DL
CINCINNATI -- The Colorado Rockies have placed right-hander Juan Rincon on the 15-day disabled list because of stiffness in his pitching elbow, making room on the roster for recent acquisition Joe Beimel.
Beimel, a left-hander, was acquired by the Reds in a trade with Washington before the non-waiver deadline Friday.
Rincon was put on the DL Saturday, retroactive to Friday. He went 2-2 with a 6.91 ERA in 16 relief appearances after being called up by the Rockies from Triple-A Colorado Springs on June 20.
The seven-year veteran opened the season with Detroit and was 1-0 with a 5.23 ERA in seven relief appearances before being designated for assignment on May 13.
