SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Padres have recalled rookie right-hander Ryan Webb from Triple-A Portland to replace Chad Gaudin, who was traded to the New York Yankees.
Webb, acquired in a July 5 trade from Oakland along with two other players for outfielder Scott Hairston, made three appearances with Padres immediately after the trade. Webb, who was recalled Friday, made his major-league debut on July 8, at Arizona.
Gaudin went to the Yankees on Thursday for a player to be named or cash considerations.
The 26-year-old Gaudin was 4-10 with a 5.13 ERA in 20 games for the Padres, including 19 starts.
