ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Brett Cecil is scheduled to rejoin the Toronto Blue Jays' rotation on Thursday against the Boston Red Sox.

Cecil has been out since he hurt his left knee when he fell trying to field a bunt on Aug. 8 against Baltimore. The rookie left-hander is 5-1 with a 4.35 ERA in 13 games, 12 starts, this season.

Cecil took part in fielding drills and had a bullpen session Sunday, and Toronto manager Cito Gaston says he's ready to go.

Also, left-hander Scott Downs, on the disabled list with a toe injury, practiced defense and had a mound session. But Gaston says the reliever is not ready to be reinstated from the DL.
