Dickerson, Hanigan placed on DL
CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Reds have placed outfielder Chris Dickerson and catcher Ryan Hanigan on the 15-day disabled list, giving Cincinnati 11 players currently sidelined by injuries.
Dickerson sprained his left ankle during a 4-1 win over Pittsburgh on Sunday. Hanigan was hit on the mask by a foul tip later in the game, giving him a concussion.
The moves on Monday left the Reds with a total of 19 players who have gone on the DL during the season. Starting pitcher Aaron Harang joined them over the weekend when he had an emergency appendectomy that will wipe out the rest of his season.
The Reds were off on Monday. They plan to call up outfielder Darnell McDonald and catcher Corky Miller from Triple-A Louisville before the start of a series in Milwaukee on Tuesday.
