Rangers activate McCarthy for start
ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers have activated right-handed starter Brandon McCarthy and lefty reliever Eddie Guardado as part of their September roster expansion.
McCarthy was scheduled to start the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday night against Toronto Blue Jays. He's been sidelined since early June with a stress fracture in his right shoulder.
Guardado missed two weeks with left knee inflammation.
Infielder German Duran, relievers Warner Madrigal and Guillermo Moscoso, outfielder Craig Gentry and catcher Kevin Richardson were part of the roster expansion.
