Mets activate Wright
Wright sustained a concussion when he was hit in the head by a pitch from San Francisco's Matt Cain on Aug. 15. At the time of his injury, Wright ranked fourth in the NL with a .324 batting average.
He went 1 for 3 in the Mets' 8-3 loss. Wearing his bulky, new protective batting helmet, Wright helped New York take a 2-0 lead in a wild first inning when he singled and scored.
Catcher Josh Thole joined the Mets after being recalled from Double-A Binghamton on Monday. Thole was hitting .328 with 29 doubles at Binghamton.
Thole had the third-highest batting average in the Eastern League at the time of his promotion.Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
