Jones could miss rest of season
BALTIMORE -- Baltimore Orioles All-Star center fielder Adam Jones will miss at least two to three weeks with a severe left ankle sprain that could keep him sidelined for the rest of the season.
Jones was hurt in the sixth inning of Tuesday night's game against the New York Yankees. After reaching first on an infield grounder, Jones overran, scrambled back and twisted his leg on the base.
He stayed in the game momentarily before leaving. Jones was on crutches Wednesday.
Orioles manager Dave Trembley acknowledged that the injury could end Jones' season. He will be replaced in center field by Felix Pie.
Jones is batting .277 with 19 homers and 70 RBIs. Playing in the All-Star Game for the first time, he had the game-winning RBI for the American League.
