Yanks' Kennedy completes journey back
SEATTLE -- The New York Yankees have recalled right-hander Ian Kennedy, completing his long journey back from an aneurysm.
Kennedy was in New York's bullpen for Saturday night's game at Seattle. Manager Joe Girardi said the team wants to get him in a couple of outings of multiple innings before a possible stint in the Arizona Fall League.
The 24-year-old Kennedy had surgery in May to remove an aneurysm below his right biceps. He had numbness in his pitching hand while pitching for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Kennedy said his recovery was slow because doctors had little precedent for the injury in baseball. Former Yankees pitcher David Cone had surgery to remove an aneurysm in his right shoulder in 1996.
