Mets expect Reyes Saturday
New York Mets shortstop Jose Reyes went 2-for-5 with two walks while playing all nine innings in the field in an extended spring training game in Port St. Lucie, Fla., on Tuesday night. Reyes is eligible to return from the disabled list on Saturday against the Washington Nationals, and all indications are he will be ready that day.
Alex Cora is expected to start a second straight game at shortstop for the Mets on Wednesday against the Florida Marlins, with 20-year-old Ruben Tejada likely to get his first major league start in Thursday's series finale.
Reyes started the season on the DL due to a thyroid condition. He missed most of last season with a hamstring injury.
