Cabrera scratched with strained quad

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera will miss the next couple days while recovering from a strained left quadriceps muscle.

Cabrera injured the leg Monday against the Toronto Blue Jays. He was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the ninth inning and is not in Tuesday's lineup. Indians manager Manny Acta is hopeful Cabrera can return on Friday when Cleveland hosts the Detroit Tigers.

Cabrera is the Indians' leadoff hitter and has scored a team-high 14 runs. Cleveland began the day tied with the Seattle Mariners for the fewest runs scored in the American League.
