MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Twins centerfielder Denard Span left the game Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers in the sixth inning with a bruised right shoulder.
Span was injured when he was hit by a pitch from Marco Estrada in the third inning. He remained in the game, getting a single in the fourth and playing defense in the sixth inning before Alexi Casilla pinch hit for him in the bottom of the inning.
When Span goes down, the Twins have a tough time replacing him. They do not have another natural centerfielder on the roster. On Sunday, manager Ron Gardenhire used Casilla, who is a middle infielder, to take Span's place in the outfield.
A team spokesman says Span is day to day.
