Report: Branyan returns to Mariners

The Cleveland Indians have traded Russell Branyan back to the Seattle Mariners, MLB.com reported Saturday night.

Branyan was told after the Indians' loss to the Reds he would be returning to his former club. The Indians will receive two minor leaguers, Triple-A center fielder Ezequiel Carrera and high Class A shortstop Juan Diaz, the website reported.

The Indians will also either pay the rest of Branyan's contract or send the Mariners a player to be named later, MLB.com reported.

Branyan played for the Mariners last season, hitting a career-high 31 homers with 76 runs in 116 games. Seattle choose not to re-sign him.

Branyan, 34, is batting .263 with 10 homers, nine doubles, 24 RBIs and an .819 OPS in 52 games this season.
