Pirates' McCutchen (neck) sits out
PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh centerfielder Andrew McCutchen is not in the lineup against Milwaukee, but the Pirates are optimistic the neck injury he sustained while making a diving catch Sunday is not serious.
"He feels a little better today but he's still sore. We'll continue to monitor it day-to-day and hopefully get him back sooner rather than later," manager John Russell said. "I know he's going to be anxious to get back out there, but we have to be smart and make sure he's ready to go. Indications are in the shorter time frame than a longer one."
The 23-year-old McCutchen leads the Pirates in batting average, on-base percentage, runs and stolen bases.
