ST. LOUIS -- Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Kyle Kendrick has been sent to the minors, a day after giving up three home runs in one inning.

Kendrick squandered leads of 3-0 and 4-2 in an 8-4 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday night and was sent to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday. The right-hander is 5-4 with a 4.82 ERA in 20 starts.

Right-hander Andrew Carpenter was recalled from Lehigh Valley.

In the fifth inning of Monday night's game, Kendrick allowed home runs to Albert Pujols, Allen Craig and Skip Schumaker.
