Joey Votto sits with sprained wrist
Votto said he's been bothered by a sore wrist for two or three days. X-rays were negative.
Votto leads the National League in batting (.322) and home runs (27). He's tied for fourth with 72 RBIs.
"The training staff and myself decided it would be wise to take a day off," Votto said.
"If you don't take care of it, it's only going to get worse," Reds manager Dusty Baker said. "Sometimes, you know, that wrist is something that you take for granted until you sprain it. Your wrist and your fingers, you don't even think about it, but as far as a hitter's concerned, that's a very, very important part of their hitting."
