CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Indians have reduced their major league roster by sending infielders Wes Hodges and Drew Sutton and outfielder Chad Huffman outright to Triple-A Columbus.

The team made the moves to protect key younger players from the Rule 5 draft in December. Clubs have until Nov. 19 to finalize their rosters.

The Indians also lost shortstop Carlos Rivero, who was claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Phillies.

Cleveland's roster still includes outfielder Grady Sizemore and catcher Carlos Santana, both on the 60-day disabled list with serious knee injuries.
