Ricky Nolasco will take the mound in Sunday's series finale between the Marlins and Rays.

WEEKEND PREVIEW

Interleague play resumes this weekend, and who would have guessed the most notable matchup this weekend would be the Florida Marlins against the Tampa Bay Rays? Both teams have shown they belong in the hunt for their respective division titles, with the Marlins taking two of three from the Phillies this week and the Rays with a strong showing against the Angels.

"SUNDAY NIGHT BASEBALL"

Braves at Angels, 8 p.m. ET, ESPN

Neither team will have its best starter on the mound this weekend. The Rays used Scott Kazmir in the series finale with the Angels, and Scott Olsen pitched for the Marlins in their loss to the Phillies on Thursday. So, this will be a major test of the two clubs' pitching depth.

This year's interleague scoreboard

Friday

Aaron HarangRed Sox (Justin Masterson) at Reds (Aaron Harang), 7:10 p.m. ET
While Aaron Harang has had some rough luck this season, Justin Masterson has been devastating. His slider has been particularly good. According to Inside Edge, opponents are 2-for-25 against it this season.

Joba ChamberlainYankees (Joba Chamberlain) at Astros (Shawn Chacon), 8:05 p.m. ET
Joba Chamberlain has reportedly been boasting to teammates about his hitting ability, and he'll get to test it in his third career start. Chamberlain's arm is of more concern to the Yankees, though. In 6 2/3 innings as a starter, he's allowed five runs, six hits and five walks, though much of the damage came in his first start against Toronto.

Barry ZitoA's (Greg Smith) at Giants (Barry Zito), 10:15 p.m. ET
Barry Zito is pitching against his former team. In two starts against them in 2007, he was 0-2 with an 11.25 ERA. Zito was 102-63 with a 3.55 ERA with Oakland, but is just 13-22 with a 4.86 ERA with the Giants.

Saturday

Mike MussinaYankees (Mike Mussina) at Astros (Wandy Rodriguez), 7:05 p.m. ET
Mike Mussina tries to join an elite group by beating the Astros. A win would give Mussina 17 straight 10-win seasons. He would join Greg Maddux, Cy Young, Steve Carlton, Don Sutton and Warren Spahn as pitchers with at least 17 straight seasons of 10 wins or more. Mussina, by the way, is 8-1 in his past 10 starts.

Cliff LeePadres (Cha Seung Baek) at Indians (Cliff Lee ), 7:05 p.m. ET
Cliff Lee has struggled in his past five starts. Even though he is 4-1, he has a 6.04 ERA over that stretch. Opponents are hitting .333 against him in those five games, with left-handed hitters batting .412 against him.

Randy JohnsonRoyals (Luke Hochevar) at Diamondbacks (Randy Johnson), 8:10 p.m. ET
Randy Johnson has won 12 of his past 13 decisions against the Royals. In fact, his team has won 16 of his past 17 starts against the Royals (he's 12-1 in that span).

Sunday

Barry ZitoPadres (Greg Maddux) at Indians (C.C. Sabathia), 1:05 p.m. ET
Greg Maddux has 350 wins, but he's never beaten the Indians in the regular season … of course, he's only faced them once. He did beat them in the 1995 World Series, won by the Braves. Meanwhile, C.C. Sabathia will try to avoid giving up his fifth homer of the season. He gave up four all of last year.

Ricky NolascoMarlins (Ricky Nolasco ) at Rays (Edwin Jackson), 1:40 p.m. ET
A matchup of two pitchers who have gotten better, but who are still searching for consistency. Edwin Jackson has a 9.77 ERA in his five losses this season, but has been great otherwise. He has an 0.66 ERA in four starts resulting in no decisions. Ricky Nolasco is on the rise, with a 4-1 mark and a 3.86 ERA in his past five starts.

Ted LillyCubs (Ted Lilly) at Blue Jays (Jesse Litsch), 1:07 p.m. ET
Ted Lilly faces former team for first time since signing with the Cubs as a free agent. Remember, his most famous moment with Blue Jays was fighting with manager John Gibbons in 2006. Lilly went 37-34 with a 4.52 ERA in three seasons with Toronto. Jesse Litsch, 23, has been a capable replacement. He'll try to better his 2007 win total by getting his eighth win of the season.

THIS DATE IN MLB HISTORY (JUNE 13)

1983: As a member of the Expos, Pete Rose slashed a double off the Phillies' Jerry Koosman for his 4,000th career hit as Montreal beat Philadelphia at Olympic Stadium, 5-1.

2003: On his fourth attempt, Roger Clemens became the 21st pitcher ever, and the first since 1990, to record 300 career wins as the 40-year-old righty went 6 2/3 innings in the Yankees' 5-2 interleague victory over the Cardinals. In the second inning, when Edgar Renteria swung through a full-count fastball, Clemens also joined Nolan Ryan (5,714) and Steve Carlton (4,136) as just the third hurler to record 4,000 career strikeouts.
