When he returned to Atlanta in 1985, he served as general manager and helped develop the farm system that would contribute to the Braves' dynasty. … He took over as field manager again on June 22, 1990 and guided the club to a record 14 straight division titles. … Bad knees forced Cox to retire as a player in 1971 and he took over as a manager in the New York Yankees' system later that year. He was the Yankees' first base coach in the 1977, when they won the World Series.
