Player News (last updated: June 25, 2009)
News: Santana gave up two runs -- one earned -- and seven hits in seven innings to win for the first time in three starts and lower his ERA to 3.08 in the Mets' 3-2 win over the Cardinals Thursday.
Spin: Santana struck out three -- his fourth straight start with three or fewer -- and overcame early wildness. Uncharacteristically, he went to 3-0 counts four times in the first two innings. Santana settled down after that to best Chris Carpenter in a match-up of former Cy Young Award winers.
