News: Schafer's recovery from wrist surgery is ahead of schedule as he's getting a cast removed from the wrist a few weeks earlier than expected, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Spin: He won't play winter ball and GM Frank Wren told the paper he's likely to begin the season at Triple-A. He began 2009 as the starting centerfielder and was seen as a future everyday player, but his wrist injury and the acquisition of Nate McLouth means he'll need to prove himself in the minors before being considered for an everyday job in the majors again. |
