News: Willis' (anxiety) status with the Tigers heading into 2010 is unclear. Spin: "In Willis' case, which we all know to be unique, he needs to throw the ball over the plate on a consistent basis," general manager Dave Dombrowski said. "We don't know if he'll do that or not." Manager Jim Leyland wanted Willis to pitch in winter ball, but he hasn't thus far. Being saddled with his $12 million salary for 2010 is part of the reason that the Tigers will have to be light spenders in free agency this winter, while it's also made the idea of trading Willis elsewhere obsolete. |
