X-rays on Beltran's ribs negative
Beltran was 3-for-3 -- including a two-run homer and a stolen base -- when an inside fastball from Cruz caught the hitter in the right ribs in the seventh inning.
Beltran hobbled to first and managed to stay in the game, but he didn't go back in the field for the bottom half. Afterward, he wasn't sure about playing Thursday.
"We'll have to see how it feels,'' Beltran said. "I don't want to put myself in a position where I can't perform.''
X-rays were negative, but Beltran was in obvious pain.
"It got him real good, solid in the ribs,'' manager Phil Garner said. "He was having trouble breathing when he got over there (to first base).''
Beltran put up big numbers after being acquired from Kansas City during the season. He had 38 homers, 104 RBIs and 42 stolen bases overall.
"You saw what he did,'' Garner said. "He can run. He can get on base with singles. He can take it out of any part of the ballpark. When he's on base, he's electric because he can steal when he wants to.''
