Gary Gillette on Garret Anderson:

"When he's right, Anderson hits the ball to all fields and is an aggressive baserunner. He is an average left fielder now with an inconsistent arm, still capable of playing center in a pinch."

SERIES NOTES

    ELIAS SAYS ...

    • By winning Game 5 of the ALCS in Anaheim, the White Sox became only the fourth team to advance to a World Series by winning the final three games of a League Championship Series on the road. The other teams to do so were the 1991 Twins (ALCS vs. Toronto), 1996 Yankees (ALCS vs. Baltimore) and 2001 Diamondbacks (NLCS vs. Atlanta).

    • White Sox starting pitchers completed each of the last four games of the ALCS. The last team to pitch four consecutive complete games in one postseason was the 1969 Orioles: Dave McNally and Jim Palmer in the last two games of the ALCS against the Twins, Mike Cuellar and McNally in the first two games of the World Series against the Mets. The last team with four consecutive complete-game wins in one postseason was the 1928 Yankees in their World Series sweep of the Cardinals: Waite Hoyt, George Pipgras, Tom Zachary and Hoyt again.

    • The Angels batted .175 against the White Sox, the lowest mark in a League Championship Series since 1984, when the Royals batted .170 in a three-and-out loss to the Tigers.
