    • Al Leiter was credited with the victory in the Yankees' 3-2 win over the Angels in Game 4 of the AL Division Series on Sunday night, facing only one batter -- Darin Erstad -- who grounded into a double play. Only one other pitcher won a postseason game by inducing a double-play groundout from the only batter he faced: Hugh Casey of the Dodgers was the pitcher and Tommy Henrich of the Yankees was the batter in the top of the ninth of Game 4 of the 1947 World Series.

    • Jorge Posada went 1-for-1 with three walks on Sunday. It was the first "perfect game" at the plate by a Yankees catcher in postseason play since Thurman Munson went 4-for-4 in the final game of the Reds' sweep of New York in the 1976 World Series. For many teams, that span would cover only a handful of games; the Yankees have played 157 postseason games since the end of the 1976 Series.

    • John Lackey didn't allow the Yankees a hit until there were two outs in the fifth inning. The last pitcher to hold his opponent hitless through four innings while pitching a postseason game on three days' rest was Mike Mussina, for the Orioles in Game 6 of the 1997 ALCS.
