Game 7 Notes
• Dustin Pedroia hit a two-run home run in the seventh to give Boston a 5-2 advantage. He also had a three-run double in the eighth. • Kevin Youkilis belted a two-run homer over The Monster in the eighth to make it 11-2. • Daisuke Matsuzaka followed two sub-par playoff outings with his first postseason victory. He allowed two runs on six hits in five innings, striking out three and walking none. Fellow Japanese rookie Hideki Okajima pitched two innings of shutout ball. Jon Papelbon got the last six outs. • Jake Westbrook settled down after spotting Boston a 3-0 lead, allowing three runs on nine hits in six innings. He retired his last seven batters. • Boston kept the bases busy early against Westbrook, but three double plays in the first four innings kept the Indians in the game while their starter settled down. • Indians reliever Rafael Betancourt was torched for seven runs (six earned) on five hits in 1 2/3 innings.
