Sound off on the Mets
The Mets came within one game of the Fall Classic last October, but some might argue they were the best team in the National League. The same case can be made this year.
There aren't any holes in the lineup, and it might even be stronger with Moises Alou replacing Cliff Floyd in left field. Jose Reyes is a five-tool star. Carlos Beltran and David Wright have MVP potential. Carlos Delgado can slug with the best of them, and all Paul Lo Duca does is hit.
Pitching will determine the Mets' fate. Tom Glavine and Orlando Hernandez are both 40-year-olds. Pedro Martinez isn't expected back from rotator-cuff surgery until after the All-Star break. The back end of the rotation -- John Maine, Oliver Perez and Mike Pelfrey -- has tremendous upside but must prove it can deliver on a consistent basis.
The bullpen is a strength. However, relievers Guillermo Mota (50-game suspension for steroids) and Duaner Sanchez (out until midseason) won't be available right away. Aaron Heilman and closer Billy Wagner will need to pick up the slack.
Can the Mets answer every question and take care of unfinished business? Will they win the World Series? Let us know what you think.
