Seattle (10-10) at Texas (10-11), 8:05 pm EDT
ARLINGTON, Texas (Ticker) --
Ryan Franklin hopes to get some more
offensive support Wednesday when the
Seattle Mariners continue
their three-game series with the
Texas Rangers on Wednesday.
Since being inserted into the rotation in place of the injured
Bobby Madritsch, Franklin (1-2, 2.51 ERA) has lasted at least
eight innings in each of his three starts. But the righthander
has lost his last two outings, receiving just one run of support
over that stretch.
Franklin allowed three runs and four hits in eight innings last
Thursday, but the Mariners managed only five singles and a
double in a 3-0 setback to the
Oakland Athletics.
In four starts against the Rangers last season, Franklin was 0-3
with a 9.47 ERA - his highest against any team he faced more
than once.
Franklin will be opposed by veteran lefthander
Kenny Rogers
(0-2, 3.33), who also has not received much help from his
offense, receiving three runs or less in three of his four
starts, including last Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Tampa Bay
Devil Rays.
Adrian Beltre hit a two-run homer and
Richie Sexson had three of
the Mariners' season-high 15 hits in a 7-4 victory in the
series opener on Tuesday.
