Johnson faces Halladay in series opener

Toronto (12-11) at NY Yankees (9-13), 7:05 pm EDT

BRONX, New York (Ticker) -- Two former Cy Young Award winners square off when the New York Yankees host the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday.

Five-time winner Randy Johnson (2-1, 4.19 ERA), who has a 13-4 career record against the Blue Jays, looks to build on a strong outing against the Texas Rangers last Sunday. The "Big Unit" gave up just one run and three hits in eight innings to earn his second win for the Yankees.

Halladay (3-1, 4.25), who won the American League award in 2003, comes off his first loss of the season against the Baltimore Orioles last Sunday, when he allowed six runs and nine hits in six innings.

After losing the first five games of their homestand, the Blue Jays finished with a three-game sweep of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, capping it with a 7-4 triumph on Thursday.

Gregg Zaun hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning for Toronto.

New York assured itself of its first losing April since 1991 with a 3-1 defeat against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Thursday.

The Yankees have scored one run in each of their last two games after posting 12 in the series opener against the Angels on Tuesday.
