Unbeaten Arroyo faces Athletics

Oakland (14-18) at Boston (19-13), 7:05 pm EDT

BOSTON (Ticker) -- With Curt Schilling and David Wells on the disabled list, unbeaten Bronson Arroyo has helped pick up the slack for the Boston Red Sox.

Arroyo (4-0, 3.18 ERA) can get his fifth win of the season when Boston meets the Oakland Athletics in the second contest of a three-game series on Tuesday.

Arroyo gave up just one run and three hits in eight innings in a 2-1 win against Detroit last Thursday.

Oakland counters with Kirk Saarloos (1-2, 5.64), who is winless since his first start on April 6. He allowed four runs and three hits in five innings in a loss to the Texas Rangers last Tuesday.

Trot Nixon had four RBI and Kevin Miller belted a three-run homer as the Red Sox won for the sixth time in seven outings, a 13-5 triumph over the Athletics on Monday.

Johnny Damon extended his hitting streak to 15 games for Boston, which scored five runs in the fourth inning and seven more in the seventh.

Manny Ramirez was beaned by Oakland's Dan Haren in the first inning and left the game. His status for Tuesday is uncertain.
