NY Yankees (20-19) at Seattle (15-23), 10:05 pm EDT
SEATTLE (Ticker) -- The
New York Yankees will try to win their
10th straight game when they face the
Seattle Mariners in the
second of a three-game set Tuesday. All of New York's victories
during the streak have come against Seattle or the Oakland
Athletics.
Bernie Williams, who sat out a weekend series in Oakland, belted
his 11th grand slam in the seventh inning to help the Yankees
post a 6-3 triumph in Monday's series opener.
Carl Pavano (2-2, 4.80 ERA) will attempt to rebound from his
shortest outing of the season. On Wednesday, he gave up nine
runs and 10 hits in four innings against Seattle.
The Mariners counter with
Julio Mateo (1-0, 0.41), who will make
his first major league start. He faced the Yankees last
Tuesday and gave up three hits in 3 1/3 scoreless innings.
Seattle has lost all four meetings against the Yankees this
season and 12 of its last 15 overall. The Mariners are 9-20
against New York at Safeco Field.
