    Preston Wilson returns to Colorado

Washington (59-55) at Colorado (44-71), 9:05 pm EDT

DENVER (Ticker) -- Preston Wilson returns to the Mile High city for the first time as a member of the Washington Nationals when they open a three-game series with the Colorado Rockies on Friday.

Wilson was traded from the Rockies to the Nationals as part of a three-team deal on July 13. It ended his 2 1/2-year run in Colorado, which went sour after a breakout 2003 campaign in which he led the National League with 141 RBI.

Since acquiring Wilson, Washington has gone 7-19 to tumble from first to fourth in the National League East. The Nationals have lost five straight series on the road.

Esteban Loaiza (6-8, 3.63 ERA) has contributed to that slide by dropping his last three decisions. He allowed three runs and six hits in seven innings of Sunday's 3-0 loss to San Diego.

The 33-year-old righthander has a 7.77 ERA in four career starts at Coors Field, where the Rockies wrapped up a three-game set with Pittsburgh on Thursday with an 11-3 loss.

Colorado, which is 13-15 since dealing Wilson, gives the ball to Jamey Wright (6-12, 5.85). Wright is 3-6 with a 7.56 ERA at home and was forced into mop-up duty in the Rockies' 12-4 loss to the Pirates on Tuesday, throwing one scoreless inning.
