Wright, Yankees go for series victory in Seattle

NY Yankees (75-57) at Seattle (56-76), 4:35 pm EDT

SEATTLE (Ticker) -- Jaret Wright appears recovered after missing more than three months with shoulder inflammation. On Thursday, the New York Yankees' righthander takes on the Seattle Mariners in the finale of a four-game set.

Wright (4-2, 6.39 ERA) has posted a 2-0 mark with a 3.44 ERA in three starts since returning from the 60-day disabled list. He is, however, coming off his worst outing in that stretch last Saturday when he was reached for five runs in five innings of an eventual 8-7 win vs. Kansas city.

The 29-year-old Wright is 2-2 with a 7.58 ERA in six career starts against the Mariners.

Seattle hands the ball to Joel Pineiro (5-9, 5.78), who has been reached for a total of 11 runs and 20 hits in 11 2/3 innings in losing his last two starts vs. Minnesota and the Chicago White Sox.

Pineiro is 2-3 with a 3.74 ERA in eight career games - six starts - against the Yankees, but has not faced them this year.

After the teams split the first two games of the set, Randy Johnson tossed seven strong innings and Robinson Cano and Gary Sheffield homered in Wednesday's 2-0 victory.

Rookie phenom Feliz Hernandez allowed two runs in eight innings for the Mariners, who have dropped seven of nine meetings with the Yankees this year.
