Lee, Indians each go for seventh straight win

Minnesota (73-68) at Cleveland (81-61), 8:09 pm EDT

CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Cliff Lee and the Cleveland Indians certainly are picking a good time to heat up. Each puts a six-game winning streak on the line Sunday when they look to complete a three-game sweep of the Minnesota Twins.

After recording a four-game sweep of Detroit and posting a 4-2 victory over Minnesota in Friday's series opener, Cleveland followed up with a 7-5 triumph Saturday. Scott Elarton tossed eight solid innings and Coco Crisp homered and drove in two runs to give the Indians a 1 1/2-game lead in the American League wild card race.

Cleveland looks to keep the momentum going behind Lee (15-4, 3.72 ERA), who has gone 3-0 with a 1.54 ERA in his last five games and 6-0 with a 3.42 ERA in his last 10 outings. The lefthander is coming off a stellar outing Tuesday vs. Detroit in which he yielded just four hits in eight scoreless innings of a 6-1 victory.

Lee is 3-2 with a 4.24 ERA in seven lifetime starts against the Twins, including a 6-2 loss June 1 in which he was reached for four runs in five innings.

Minnesota, which has dropped four of five, gives the ball to Carlos Silva (9-7, 3.27). The righthanded sinkerballer was a hard-luck loser Monday vs. Texas, when a pair of errors by the Twins caused him to be charged with six runs - one earned - in a 7-0 loss.

Silva is 2-2 with a 4.60 ERA against the Indians in his career, including an 0-1 mark with a 3.13 ERA in three starts this year.

The victor of Sunday's contest will win the season series, 10-9.
