Williams, Cubs look to get back to .500

Cincinnati (67-77) at Chicago Cubs (72-73), 8:05 pm EDT

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Jerome Williams and the Chicago Cubs look to get back to the .500 mark for the first time in over a month when they host the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday in the rubber match of a three-game series.

The Cubs have been below the .500 mark since dropping a 9-5 decision against the New York Mets on August 5. However, Chicago has been hot recently, winning nine of its last 12 contests.

After dropping Monday's series opener, the Cubs rallied in the 10th inning Tuesday for a 4-3 victory.

Todd Walker belted a long single to the warning track in right field, plating rookie Matt Murton with the winning run. With the triumph, Chicago remained six games behind Florida (78-67) in the National League wild card standings.

Williams (5-8, 4.52 ERA) has struggled at Wrigley Field this year. In six home outings since joining the Cubs, the righthander is 1-5 with a 5.73 ERA.

Williams has not faced the Reds since yielding seven runs in 5 1/3 frames to take the loss on August 8.

Cincinnati counters with Randy Keisler (2-0, 6.69), who makes his first start of the season. The lefthander has struggled since the All-Star break, yielding 16 runs in 18 innings over 12 relief appearances.
