Reds aim to send Brewers to 10th loss in 13 games

Cincinnati (11-6) at Milwaukee (8-9) 2:05 pm EDT

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- The Milwaukee Brewers wish things could go back to the way they were two weeks ago.

Suddenly one of the coldest teams in the league, the Brewers try to snap out of their funk Saturday when they continue a four-game set with the surging Cincinnati Reds.

Milwaukee sat at 5-0 and was the talk of baseball following a victory over Arizona on April 8. However, the team since has dropped nine of its last 12 games and cannot find any consistency.

The Brewers' pitching staff surrendered 12 runs in Thursday's series-opening loss to the Reds before Milwaukee's offense was the culprit Friday, managing just six hits in a 3-1 setback to Cincinnati.

Bronson Arroyo was the star for the Reds, yielding one run in eight innings to pick up his third victory of the season.

Brandon Claussen (1-1, 3.18 ERA) will try to lead Cincinnati to its fourth straight win, while also trying to end his struggles against Milwaukee. The lefthander faced the Brewers five times last season, going 0-3 with a 6.23 ERA as the Reds lost all five games.

However, Claussen is coming off his best outing of 2006 as he tossed seven scoreless innings in Monday's 9-1 triumph against Florida.

Milwaukee will send Dave Bush (1-1, 5.21) to the mound as the righthander makes his first career appearance against Cincinnati. He allowed three runs in six innings Monday but did not factor in the decision of an 8-7 defeat against Houston.
