The veteran lefthander looks for his seventh straight win Friday when the New York Mets kick off a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants.

The 40-year-old Glavine (8-2, 2.59 ERA) is 6-0 with a 2.27 ERA in his last six starts, giving the two-time Cy Young Award winner 283 wins for his major league career.

In his last outing Saturday, Glavine yielded three runs in 7 2/3 innings against Florida, striking out nine without a walk in a 7-4 victory.

Glavine is 4-1 with a 1.38 ERA in six home starts this season and 19-15 with a 3.62 ERA all-time against San Francisco. He will try and keep a good thing going for the Mets, who have won four of their last five games and posted a 1-0, 13-inning triumph over Arizona on Wednesday.

The Giants enter on the heels of a series loss to Florida. They did, however, salvage Wednesday's series finale, 6-1, behind 5 2/3 strong innings from Jason Schmidt and a two-run homer by Steve Finley.

San Francisco's Matt Cain (3-5, 5.07) has been masterful in his last two starts, yielding a total of one run in 14 2/3 innings. He yielded one run and two hits in 5 2/3 frames Saturday in a 4-1 triumph against Colorado.

Cain's first victory this season came against New York on April 24, when he allowed two runs in seven innings in a 6-2 win.
